MONA BROSCHÁR

[FR]

Mona Broschár (b. 1985) lives and works in Leipzig, Germany, where she graduated in 2014 from the Academy of Visual Arts with a Master in Painting and Printmaking. Mona uses stereotypical visual symbols of meats or desserts that are served to the viewer as metaphorical expressions. She shifts the subject matter of the portrait to that of a shrine to sustenance. Her paintings could be considered a nod to still life painting, attaching layers of meaning by contrasting vessels and their surfaces with textures of food. Broschár paints arrangements through the lens of hyperrealism meets the verge of psychedelic.
